Terrifier 2 is a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should you. While it is a fun, gory good time, the story falls short, and you can't make up for it with blood and guts. Although as a horror fan, I can't discredit the staggering effect Art the Clown has on the genre. He's a merciless, blood thirty maniac and a villain made for horror hall of fame.
What director Damien Leone managed to create is a film franchise that is reminiscent of an old school, horror slasher with a knack for using great practical effects. There's some perfectly timed comedic relief, well designed characters, and realistic dialogue, but at times the pacing of the movie felt dragged and maybe 30 mins too long.
Going into the film I was expecting one of the scariest films of the year (or so says social media), but what I really got was an entertaining blood bath.
