As expected, Jordan Peele did it again! This time, he gave us NOPE, a spooky yet comical story revolving around a mysterious being in the sky and a family trying to survive. Now I'm not going to lie, I had to watch the movie twice before writing this review simply because I had a few questions that were unanswered by the end. After seeing it a second time I left immensely happier than the first viewing. A lot of people right now are comparing it to his freshman and sophomore films, but this one felt a little different. Without getting too much into it, Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya do a phenomenal job at playing a brother-sister duo; Brandon Perea's character adds a humorous, synergistic element to the movie and I'm very excited to see where his career takes him. Out of all the actors and actresses in Nope, Barbie Ferreira is the one I wish I could have seen MORE of!
Jordan Peele's Nope is thought-provoking and clever in its delivery (as I said earlier, I HAD to watch it twice!). If you're looking for a 'scary' movie that relies on jump-scared as a tactic, this movie is not it. It's shot beautifully with an original story and will go down as one of Peele's best. In my opinion, not AS great as Us and Get Out, but it's still impressive that Jordan Peele continually puts out hit after hit. I'm very excited to see what he comes up with next!
