After watching Memento three separate times within the course of a decade, I think I finally understand it enough to write my review! "Memento" is a psychological, complex thriller directed by Christopher Nolan (personally one of my favorite directors) that will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about the story. The film tells the story of Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), a man with anterograde amnesia who is on a seemingly impossible mission to find the person who murdered his wife. What makes this movie so unique is the way it tells its story. The film is presented in reverse order, with scenes running backwards, which creates a disorienting effect for the viewer, mirroring Leonard's experience of constantly forgetting what has just happened.
The film is an absolute masterpiece in terms of storytelling and suspense. It is a mind-bending experience that requires the viewer's full attention to piece together the puzzle of the story.
Guy Pearce delivers an incredible performance as Leonard, bringing both sympathy and intrigue to his character. Overall, "Memento" is a brilliant film that showcases Christopher Nolan's talent for storytelling and filmmaking. It is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys a thought-provoking and suspenseful thriller.
I can't recommend this film enough, even though, odd are you'll have to watch it 1-2 more times! Overall Rating: 9.1 Re-watchability: If you don't have to watch this movie twice, hats off to you!
