REVIEW: M3GAN

Updated: Sep 24, 2023

*Spoiler-Free* As a huge fan of Childs Play, I was very excited to finally watch this. installment into the "killer-doll" sub-genre. M3gan is a fun and nicely paced thriller that surprised me after my initial watch. M3gan doesn't take its horror aspect too seriously as there aren't many jump scares, but more attention to "realistic" outcomes of artificial intelligence in our own living rooms. Director Gerard Johnstone does a good job of exploring the dynamics between AI, commercialism, and ongoing technological advances. There are points in the movie that'll make you raise an eyebrow as some aspects are completely unrealistic and comical in a bad way.

Overall rating: 5.9 Re-watchability: Probably not, I'll stick to Black Mirror
