REVIEW: Before Sunrise

I'll start by saying I was extremely hesitant before watching this movie. I do not like romance, and I do not like cheesy, but "Before Sunrise" is a captivating and intellectually stimulating film that stands out from other romance movies I've ever seen! Directed by Richard Linklater and released in 1995, the movie follows Jesse and Celine, two young travelers who meet on a train and spend an adventurous night exploring Vienna together.

What struck me most about this movie was its emphasis on conversation and exploring existential questions. Jesse and Celine engage in deep and meaningful discussions throughout the film, touching on topics such as love, relationships, art, and mortality. These conversations are engaging and thought-provoking, making the film much more than a simple romance.

As someone who typically doesn't enjoy romance movies, I found "Before Sunrise" to be a refreshing change of pace. The philosophical themes and discussions added depth to the story and made me invest in the characters and their journey. The film is not overly sentimental or cheesy but rather explores the complexities and uncertainties of human relationships in a way that feels honest and relatable. The characters are flawed and nuanced, and their interactions feel authentic and meaningful.

The film is beautifully shot and edited; the cinematography and soundtrack complement the philosophical themes of the film, adding to its dreamlike quality.

Overall, Before Sunrise is a romantic film that will appeal to those who enjoy intellectual discussions and philosophical explorations. The film's emphasis on dialogue and existential questions sets it apart from all other romance movies, making it a must-watch for anyone looking for a unique and thought-provoking watch! Overall Rating: 8.8 Rewatchability: I'll be watching this again for sure!
